Thom Yorke is to play solo dates after forming a band with Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers. The Radiohead frontman has also drafted in Joey Waronker, Mauro Refosco and super-producer Nigel Godrich for the gigs.

Confirming the news in a posting online, he said the shows will concentrate on his solo material, new and old.

"In the past couple of weeks I've been getting a band together for fun to play 'The Eraser' stuff live and the new songs etc to see if it could work!

"We don't really have a name and the set will not be very long cuz..well…we haven't got that much material yet!", he wrote.

So far, Thom and co have confirmed two dates at the Orpheum Theatre, Los Angeles, on October 4 and 5.
