Pearl Jam on track to land No1 album

It's looking like Pearl Jam could score its first Number One album in 13 years. According to Billboard.com, industry insiders say the group's new effort, Backspacer, could sell between 175,000 to 200,000 copies by the end of the week -- putting it ahead of the competition on the next Billboard Top 200 album chart. The set, which went on sale Sunday (September 20th) marks Pearl Jam's first without a major label. It's being sold exclusively at Target, iTunes, Pearl Jam's website and independent stores.

Pearl Jam's previous studio album, 2006's self-titled collection, debuted at Number Two with 279,000 copies sold in its first week.

The last time Pearl Jam topped the charts was in 1996 with No Code.

Pearl Jam will perform a show this year for PBS' Austin City Limits series, which will air November 21st.

Pearl Jam is currently on tour.
